Anyone Up for a Cup of Cake?

History about the lil cake in a cup:

The cupcake evolved in the United States in the 19th century, and it was revolutionary because of the amount of time it saved in the kitchen. There was a shift from weighing out ingredients when baking to measuring out ingredients. According to the Food Timeline Web, food historians have yet to pinpoint exactly where the name of the cupcake originated. There are two theories: one, the cakes were originall cooked in cups and two, the ingredients used to make the cupcakes were measured out by the cup...

I've seen so many of these cup cakes and having children did the popular ice cream cupcakes baked in the ice cream cone. Very popular then and still very popular now, with many different variations today.

So, when it came time to make a special gift for my girlfriend, I was going to take this opportunity to do some of my own creation and shine.  I am a baker, with the love and passion to creating many different things and opening my world more to the marshmallow fondant, gum paste, and what I have learned with many different decorating techniques, I will take the opportunity to put a smile on the faces that most deserve it.

My love is to see the smiles, I really get a kick out of baking something up and getting the "OMG" and the "WOW" factor, because as much as I get a kick out of it, it is mostly the joy I get to see the faces enjoying my creativity.

My creation below, is an orange supreme cupcake with orange flavoring butter cream topping and surrounded around marshmallow fondant. All of which to make this exciting cappuccino cupcake. And I don't think I have to tell you what a hit it was, nor how wonderful the smiles where on everyone''s face.

Serendipity

Every wonder where words came from? Where it was coined? How did the word get introduced into our vocabulary?

I wonder about those little things in life, maybe to avoid the bigger things that lurk in the darkness of the world itself, but any point, as a child, I had wondered "weird" things.

Back to the point, Serendipity, is one of those words, I stumbled upon that I found the history of the word and became interested in it more. I just love this word... it has spunk, mystery, unnaturalness than that of  most words and the word has something positive about it, at least to me.

First of all, a person who studies the word origins is an Etymologist, if my study is correct.  Etymology is chronological account of the birth and development of a particular word or element of a word.  (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Etymologist?s=t)

What is interesting of the definition is "...account of the birth..." of a word.  Makes me think of the beginning of creation of our existence. Words aren't just there, but a word such as serendipity was born.

So, what does Serendipity mean?  Ahh, that's the wonder of the word, of the craziness of  it.  The process of what comes about a situation in a quirky way can be defined, "Serendipity".

ser·en·dip·i·ty

[ser-uhn-dip-i-tee] Show IPA
noun
1.an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident.
2. good fortune; luck: the serendipity of getting the first job she applied for.
 http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/serendipity+?s=t
This is where the origin of this word can be found and traced back to, which makes it even more interesting to have that access to.

Serendipity was used by Horace Walpole in his fairy tale The Three Prince of Serendip (1754).  The fairy tale captures  the adventure of the highness's and tells their stories of their journey and the discoveries they made by accident.  (http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/serendip/about.html)

The book is rare and hard to come by and let alone expensive.  I am still searching for a copy since I have happened upon the word and discovering the meaning and origin of it.

Also, what comes to mind is a movie Serendipity,(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePU2Ux9JIMM)
which is also about the quirkiness of a relationship, its beginning, adventure, and discovery.  Exactly what life can be about.
